Behaviour Management
Policy
White Gum Valley School aims to:
• Create a positive environment within the school and classroom so
that the teachers and students can work together in harmony.
• Create a caring school environment where the rights and responsibilities of
the individual are recognised and respected.
• Recognise those members of the school community whose exemplary behaviour
promotes a positive and caring school environment.
• Establish a set of rules that protect property and people.
• Establish a clear set of consequences for individuals who do not accept their
responsibilities.
Code of Conduct
• Discipline issues should be handled with respect. There should
never be public or private humiliation or degradation.
• All members of the school community are expected to cooperate and be
considerate at all times.
• All members of the school community are expected to speak
politely to each other.
• Swearing, racial, religious or gender based abuse, comments or
behaviour is not tolerated.
• No one may disrupt the learning environment.
• No form of fighting is permitted and adults/students must keep
their hands and feet to themselves.
• Bullying and teasing must be reported to the staff to deal with.
• Parents or concerned community members must contact the school
for appointments to discuss school and student issues. No one, other than staff,
may approach students directly.
• Everyone should present themselves in a neat, tidy and
appropriate manner.
• Regular attendance and punctuality are important.
• Respect others, their property, our school and ourselves.
School Rules
1. Care and respect must be shown to property belonging to others.
2. All students must display manners and courtesy at all times. All
adults to be addressed as Mr or Ms and surname as the case may be.
3. Students must walk on the verandahs and around the buildings.
4. The covered assembly is the area in which all food is eaten.
5. Students remain seated during lunch until the bell rings.
6. All rubbish must be placed in the bins provided.
7. Arguments and disputes must be settled in a sensible manner.
8. If there is any doubt about whether an activity is allowable,
the student must ask a teacher.
9. All games must be played safely.
10. Ball games must be played on the bitumen area or on the oval.
11. Students must remain in the areas set aside for playing or for
other school activities.
12. Permission must be sought before entering buildings before
school, at recess time, lunch time or after school. All classrooms will be
locked during recess and lunch.
13. Students should line up outside their classroom immediately
after the bell.
14. Permission must be obtained before leaving the school grounds.
15. Bicycles and other wheeled modes of transport must not be
ridden in the school grounds.
16. All students must display common sense.
